我郑重说明:我在课堂上对位懋宸的上述行为完全是为了制止其扰乱课堂、影响他人学习的举动,保护其他学生正常听课的权益。这符合教师的职责和权利 ,也符合教育部《中小学教育惩戒规则(试行)》中关于在必要情况下教师可对违规学生实施教育惩戒的规定 。我当时的举措是履行教师职责的正当行为,并无任何体罚或侵权之处。
二、昨日办公室后续及家长介入 下课后,他在办公室纠缠,他嚷着要“验伤”,当场撩起裤脚、脱掉鞋袜,一副要查找伤痕的样子。我对他这种无理取闹行为非常愤怒,心想十几岁的学生不应如此撒泼无赖。我当即表示:如果他真觉得我伤到了他,可以去医院检查,我愿承担全部费用。他听我这么说却并不真去验伤,只是在办公室里胡搅蛮缠,声称自己是“孩子”受“大人”欺负。办公室里的其他老师见状,通知了高一年级负责人樊老师前来调解。位懋宸当着樊老师的面装出一副委屈模样,重复“我是个孩子”,把自己描绘成被教师欺压的弱者,并坚持要叫家长到校处理。由于办公室人多嘈杂,我们转到教室继续沟通。当时本应开始下一节课,但位懋宸站在教室里扬言:如果不先处理此事,以后咱班的化学课都不能再上,试图以此绑架全班。樊老师只好现场征询其他同学的意见。除位懋宸外,全班同学(当时高一竞赛班仅7人)几乎一致表示:“今天这节课算了,明天化学课照常上。”位懋宸见大势已去,遂改口同意“今天不上”,前后说法自相矛盾。我也当场指出他的再次改口行为。由此可见,他的诉求并非出于对学习的真心热爱,而是被一种狭隘偏激的“爱国”情绪所绑架,执意要抓住我的课堂发言做文章。
我当即指出,勇于正视并改正自身问题才是最大的爱国。这不仅是在帮国家纠错,也是避免重蹈历史覆辙的表现。(历史上,“文化大革命”期间一些知识分子因为直言被扣上“反党”“卖国”的帽子,遭受惨烈迫害;义和团运动中盲目排外、仇视一切批评声音,最终引来了八国联军侵华——这些都是将善意批评者视作“卖国贼”所导致的惨痛教训。)我奉劝位懋宸不要动辄以举报相威胁,不要把任何指出问题的人都污蔑为“不爱国”。那种不顾是非、逢人便扣“卖国”帽子的行为,并不是真正的爱国。
他的母亲随后赶来,未了解事实即袒护儿子,否认扰乱(如影响沈文瑞、汪琪烁)。部分学生受情绪影响,未戳破谎言;但也有学生安慰我:“老师,别被他们左右情绪,我永远喜欢你。”我深受感动。

三、今日课堂及篮球场冲突(上午约9:55) 今日上课,樊老师维持秩序。原七名学生仅六人到场(无位懋宸),课堂融洽。我结合B站优秀老师讲解概念,自己补充,学生认可我的教学水平远高于B站。课堂充实,收获满满(如平衡移动、离子浓度变化、导电能力问题)。 下课后,我收拾物品回宿舍,途经篮球场。为避冲突,绕行网球场后侧。但走到篮球场一角时,他从远处骂我。我装作未闻,欲息事宁人。他却冲上前,指鼻辱骂,用脏话羞辱我多年去世的父亲和八十岁母亲,称我“出卖中国、不配当老师、教学像屎、畜生”。我难以忍受父母被辱,反击几句。他不依不饶,推搡拉扯、抬脚踢踹,威胁动手。我呼叫保安介入。樊老师赶到,仍难平息。他自居“爱中国者”,视我为“卖中国贼”。其母亲及两名亲属赶来助阵,围堵辱骂,这两位位懋宸自称的叔叔亲属是一男一女,突然出现很蹊跷,昨天他妈妈从来没有说有亲属在菲律宾,她要亲自接她的小儿子,我合理怀疑是否请的专业打手,因为女性戴墨镜极不正常,男的出口就是要打死我,然后再联想到菲律宾很多华人案件,我越想越害怕!位懋宸的妈妈忽视儿子的行为,却不分青红皂白指责我到底说没说污言秽语。 在她连续指责、我无语沉默的时候,他背后的两个男人继续辱骂我,并一致威胁要打死我——杀人(kill),在菲律宾属于最高等级的 Grave Threats,天呐在这种公开场合(学校球场,估计有几十人在现场),他们如此放肆,要剥夺我的生命——kill me!而起因是我仅仅说滥用第三针疫苗事实(课本的基本要求:防止滥用药物等)!我告诉位懋宸妈妈,你刚刚就听到两个男人的污言秽语和公开威胁要打死我——kill me,所以不是我在污言秽语,严重犯罪(Grave Threats)的一个是你的儿子,一个是你的亲戚(35岁左右)。我严厉指出,在国内勇于揭示问题、推动改进才是真爱国;而他以流氓方式宣泄所谓“爱国热情”,是在给爱国抹黑。正如一句名言所说:“爱国主义是流氓最后的庇护所。”我提醒他不要让爱国沦为肆意辱骂他人的借口。再说了,昨日事件已过24小时,不应继续纠缠。
四、我的感受与反思。经历此次事件,我感到身心俱疲、百感交集。我今年57岁,从教三十余年,从未遭遇过学生如此公然且恶劣地冒犯师道尊严。距离事发已超过24小时,位懋宸非但没有平息,反而愈演愈烈,将矛头升级到一个令我难以想象的地步。他肆无忌惮地辱骂我本人,甚至出言诅咒我已故的父亲和耄耋高龄的母亲。“畜生”这样的字眼他也当面对我喊出口。我自问没有做过任何有违师德或人伦之事,何以蒙受此等污名?回顾整件事,仅仅因为我在课堂上引用了一个疫苗案例,他就给我扣上“卖国”的帽子,继而对我进行人身攻击乃至威胁拳脚相加。这种变形的“爱国”行为让我痛心不已。
如果位懋宸能够认识到自己的错误,真诚向我道歉,我作为长者和教师也愿意与他化解矛盾、互相包容。然而直到目前,他丝毫没有悔意,一再用更出格的方式挑战师道和校纪。我深感委屈的同时,也依然坚守自己的教育初心。我相信教育应该传播真理与美好,引导学生形成独立思考和健全人格。我在课堂上所做的一切都是为了这一初心——无论是分享科学知识,还是提醒学生理性思考——都出于对学生的爱护与对教育事业的忠诚。我希望学校领导和同事们能够明察秋毫,公正看待此事,在维护教师应有尊严的同时,也帮助这名学生认清并纠正他的错误。

Statement on the Classroom Conflict and Subsequent Events

As a teacher who has worked in education for over thirty years, I have always been dedicated to sharing the beauty of Mathematics and chemistry in the classroom, striving to make my teaching lively and full of humanistic care. The following is a complete account of the incidents that occurred on August 8, 2025 (yesterday) and August 9, 2025 (today). The incident stemmed from the introduction of a real-life example during a lesson, but gradually escalated due to an emotional reaction from a student. In the interest of truth, rationality, and objectivity, I have documented the entire process. I hope that a fair investigation by the school can resolve this conflict and maintain a harmonious and nurturing campus environment.
I. Origin of the Incident: Morning Class on August 8, 2025 (8:00–8:45 AM)
Yesterday at 8:00 AM, I began a scheduled Chemistry class (Book 2, Chapter 2) on the topic of “Proper Use of Chemicals.” Knowing this section was rather dry and memorization-heavy, and that modern students expect engaging lessons, I decided to introduce a real case to spark interest. The case was based on my personal experience in China three years ago: at that time, a nationwide campaign urged people to take a third dose of the COVID-19 vaccine. Adhering to the scientific principle that vaccines and drugs must not be misused, I was especially cautious about medications of unclear origin. I refused to take the third dose, even though everyone else in my family did. Subsequently, the primary manufacturer of that vaccine (Sinovac Biotech) suddenly shut down, its executives disappeared for unknown reasons, and numerous harmful side effects came to light (such as triggering various illnesses). This became a sensitive topic in China. My purpose in sharing this example was to guide students to think rationally about the importance of using medicines properly, emphasizing the spirit of science and self-protection. I had no intention of targeting any particular country, company, or individual.
The class was initially harmonious. However, one student, Wei Maochen, suddenly stood up, emotionally accusing me of “humiliating China, humiliating Chinese vaccines.” He threatened to report me and challenged me, “Do you dare tell me your name?” I calmly responded by neatly writing my full name on the blackboard, demonstrating that I have a clear conscience and nothing to hide (as the saying goes, “one does not change one’s name or hide one’s identity when doing the right thing”). I even quoted a saying, “Where there is kindness, there is no fear; where there is love, there is no dread,” meaning that if I teach with goodwill and love, I have no cause for shame or fear. I then half-jokingly added, “Do you also need my ID number?” To my surprise, he took this seriously and demanded I provide it on the spot. Considering the limited class time and the length of an ID number, I replied that I would give it to him after class. But seeing the threatening look in his eyes, I responded sternly, “If I don’t tell you, then I am not Yin!,” to show my stance and backbone. I further explained that I am over fifty years old and, in more than thirty years of teaching, I have never been afraid of being reported. I have always believed in the goodness in people and hoped to influence students through an education filled with beauty and love. After this confrontation, the classroom atmosphere took a drastic turn for the worse.
Wei Maochen then completely lost control. He proceeded to curse my teaching in front of everyone, saying it was “as bad as dog shit.” He shouted that all the other subject teachers (Chinese, Math, English, Physics) were excellent, and that only my chemistry class was the worst. His words were extremely insulting and defamatory. He even belittled the video lessons I share online (which have over 500,000 followers who appreciate the beauty of mathematics), mockingly saying that I “took five minutes to explain a simple problem.” These egregious slurs not only offended me deeply but could also be considered grave oral defamation given their vicious and baseless nature.
In defense of my self-respect, I immediately clarified to the class that I have taught thousands of students over the years and all have treated me with due respect. I noted that just this year one of my students scored 652 on the college entrance exam and even collaborated with me on an educational video. I also mentioned that I once tutored our principal’s daughter and was named “Best Tutor” for that – and I have always charged normal tutoring fees, never seeking any favor. Unexpectedly, Wei sneered, “You were just flattering the principal, tutoring their kid for free, weren’t you!” Faced with this groundless humiliation and distortion of facts, I wrote a large character “丑” (“ugly”) on the board, declaring firmly that the classroom should promote truth, goodness, and beauty, and castigate that which is ugly or evil.
At this point, I tried to calm myself and continue teaching, but Wei Maochen began deliberately disrupting the class. He forcibly pulled the book of an outstanding student next to him (Shen Wenrui) over to his side, interrupting the neighbor’s work. To maintain order, I moved the book back, and in the process I tapped the desk with my hand – perhaps with more force than intended (in hindsight I acknowledge this reaction may have been a bit excessive). Wei became even more disrespectful and argumentative. He then turned around and started talking loudly and laughing with the student seated behind him, Wang Qishuo, causing a serious disturbance. I had no choice but to approach him again to remind him to focus. First, I knocked on his desk with my hand, but he acted as if he didn’t hear me. I then tapped the leg of his desk with the tip of my shoe, yet he still paid no attention. In desperation to regain control of the class, I used my foot to nudge his leg.
To my astonishment, he immediately jumped up and loudly shouted that I “kicked him” and “hit him.” (In reality, during the recess after class he was as energetic as ever playing on the basketball court, running around with no sign of any injury – clearly, he had not been hurt at all.) At that moment, however, he seized the chance to make a scene: he pointed at me and continued to berate me with insults, even raising his foot as if to kick me. Another student, Liu Yanze, seeing this, quickly rushed over and pulled Wei Maochen away, escorting him out of the classroom. After Wei was removed, classroom order was finally restored, and I was able to finish teaching the lesson, which ended at 8:45 AM.
I want to state emphatically that my actions toward Wei Maochen in the classroom were entirely aimed at stopping him from disrupting the class and preventing him from hindering other students’ learning. I was protecting the other students’ right to a normal classroom environment. This aligns with the duties and rights of a teacher, and it is consistent with educational disciplinary guidelines that allow teachers to take necessary action to deal with unruly students. My measures at that time were a legitimate exercise of a teacher’s authority to maintain order; there was absolutely no corporal punishment or infringement of the student’s rights involved. In other words, I was fulfilling my responsibilities appropriately, and nothing I did constituted any form of abuse. (Indeed, my actions would not violate any child-protection policies or laws such as the Child Protection Law, RA 7610.)
II. After-Class Follow-Up and Parental Involvement (August 8, 2025)
After class, Wei Maochen trailed me to the office and continued to badger me. He clamored that he wanted to “have his injuries examined.” He dramatically rolled up his pant leg and removed his shoe and sock, as if preparing to look for bruises. I was extremely angry at this unreasonable, hooligan-like behavior – I thought to myself that a teenager should not behave in such a shameless and disruptive manner. I immediately responded that if he truly believed I had hurt him, he should go to the hospital for an examination and that I would bear all the costs. Upon hearing this, he did not actually go for any examination; instead, he kept making a scene in the office, insisting loudly that he was a “child” being bullied by an “adult.” (He was portraying himself as an innocent minor victimized by an authority figure. I must emphasize that nothing in my conduct toward him constituted abuse or a violation of the Child Protection Law (RA 7610); I was simply enforcing reasonable classroom discipline in response to his behavior.) Other teachers in the office witnessed this and notified the Grade 11 supervisor, Teacher Fan, to come and mediate.
In front of Teacher Fan, Wei Maochen put on a show of acting pitiful, repeatedly saying “I am just a child,” trying to cast himself as a weak victim being oppressed by a teacher. He insisted on calling his parent to the school to handle the situation. Since the office was crowded and noisy, we moved to an empty classroom to continue the discussion. By that time, the next class period was supposed to start, but Wei Maochen stood in the classroom and declared that if this issue was not dealt with first, “from now on our class’s chemistry lessons can’t continue.” He was essentially attempting to hold the entire class hostage to his demands. Teacher Fan had no choice but to survey the other students on the spot. Aside from Wei Maochen, the class (this Grade 11 competition track class only has seven students in total) nearly unanimously agreed: “Let’s cancel this period’s class today, and resume chemistry class as normal tomorrow.” Seeing the situation turn against him, Wei Maochen changed his tune and agreed, “No class today then.” This completely contradicted his earlier stance, and I pointed out on the spot that he had once again reversed his position. It was evident that his demands were not driven by any genuine love of learning, but rather that he was being driven by a narrow and extreme form of “patriotism,” intent on seizing upon my classroom remarks to make an issue out of them.
I immediately remarked that true patriotism is having the courage to face and correct one’s own problems, as that is the best way to help our country improve and to avoid repeating the mistakes of history. (Indeed, history provides painful lessons: during the Cultural Revolution, some intellectuals were labeled “anti-Party” or “traitors” for speaking the truth and suffered horrific persecution; during the Boxer Rebellion, blind xenophobia and hatred of all critical voices ultimately provoked the Eight-Nation Alliance’s invasion of China. These tragedies stemmed from well-intentioned critics being denounced as “traitors.”) I urged Wei Maochen not to be so quick to threaten people with reporting them, and not to smear anyone who points out issues as “unpatriotic.” Behaving in such a way – carelessly slapping the label of “traitor” on others without regard for right and wrong – is not true patriotism at all.
Shortly thereafter, Wei’s mother arrived. Without investigating the facts, she immediately took her son’s side and denied that he had done anything to disrupt the class (for example, she denied that he disturbed Shen Wenrui or Wang Qishuo’s learning). Some students, influenced by the charged atmosphere, did not speak up to contradict the falsehoods; however, one student tried to comfort me by saying, “Sir, don’t let them affect your mood. I will always support you.” I was deeply moved by this show of support.
Under Teacher Fan’s coordination, we hoped to resolve the issue that very day. Teacher Fan suggested that both sides compromise and apologize to each other. Though I was still seething inside, for the sake of the bigger picture I agreed. I stated that if Wei Maochen apologized for his disruption of the class and his disrespectful words, I would also be willing to apologize for any aspect of my own words or actions that might not have been appropriate. (Indeed, I was extremely frustrated at heart. I acknowledge that in the heat of the moment I might have responded somewhat sternly or impulsively – the result of provocation, which in law is recognized as a mitigating circumstance. Nevertheless, I was ready to apologize for any such lapse on my part.) Regrettably, however, I received no apology from him at all by that evening. On the contrary, I discovered that he went on social media and posted a series of abusive messages attacking me. (Most of these posts were automatically removed by the platform because of their vicious content, but I saved the first two as evidence.) Confronted with his escalating behavior, I felt both furious and disappointed.
III. Today’s Class and Basketball Court Conflict (approximately 9:55 AM, August 9, 2025)
This morning (August 9), during chemistry class, Teacher Fan attended to help maintain order. Of the seven students originally in the class, only six were present (Wei Maochen did not attend), and the class proceeded smoothly. I supplemented the lesson with an excellent instructional video from the internet (Bilibili) to explain certain concepts, and I added my own commentary. The students acknowledged that my teaching was far more insightful than the video’s, and the class turned out to be very substantive and rewarding (covering topics such as shifting equilibrium, changes in ion concentration, and questions of electrical conductivity).
After class, I packed up my materials and headed back to my dormitory. I took a route that passed by the school’s basketball court. To avoid any chance of conflict, I actually detoured behind the tennis courts, trying to stay out of sight. However, as I reached one corner of the basketball court, I heard Wei Maochen yelling insults at me from a distance. I decided to pretend not to hear him, intending to let the matter go and avoid further confrontation. Unfortunately, he charged toward me and continued to shout abuse directly at me, even jabbing his finger toward my face. He used vile language to insult my father (who passed away many years ago) and my 80-year-old mother. He called me a “traitor to China,” said I was “unfit to be a teacher,” that my teaching was “like excrement,” and even yelled that I was a “beast/animal.” I found it impossible to tolerate my deceased father and elderly mother being slandered in such a manner, and I retorted with a few angry words of my own.
Wei did not relent. He started shoving and grabbing at me, even lifting his foot as if to kick me, and threatened to physically assault me. At that point I shouted for the security guards to step in. Teacher Fan also arrived quickly, but even then it was difficult to calm the situation. Wei continued to proclaim himself a “true patriot” and to paint me as a “traitor selling out China.” His mother and two adult men whom he claimed were relatives (one male, one female) also rushed over to support him. They surrounded me and joined in the verbal abuse. These two individuals, introduced by Wei as his “uncles” or relatives, appeared very suddenly under strange circumstances. (The previous day, his mother never mentioned that they had any family in the Philippines – in fact, she said she would be coming alone to pick up her son. This makes me reasonably suspect that these two might have been hired thugs brought in for intimidation. The woman was even wearing dark sunglasses, which was highly unusual, and the man’s first words were threats that he would kill me.) Given the number of violent incidents involving Chinese nationals that I have heard about in the Philippines, the more I thought about what was happening, the more frightened I became.
Wei’s mother, meanwhile, ignored her son’s outrageous behavior. Instead of restraining him, she fixated on questioning me, repeatedly and indiscriminately accusing me: demanding to know whether I had used any bad language. While she kept on berating me, I was honestly too shocked and at a loss for words to respond. At the same time, the two men behind Wei continued their torrent of abuse towards me, and in unison they threatened to kill me – openly stating they would take my life. In the Philippines, issuing a direct threat to kill someone in a public setting constitutes “Grave Threats” of the highest degree – a very serious criminal offense. Yet there they were, in a public area on campus (there were probably dozens of people around the school court at the time), brazenly proclaiming they would kill me. And why? The entire cause of this confrontation was merely me mentioning the factual issue of overusing a third vaccine dose in class (which is a basic topic in our curriculum about avoiding the misuse of drugs).
I told Wei’s mother very clearly, “You just heard these two men using foul language and openly threatening to kill me – saying they would ‘kill me’. So it is not I who was using obscene words.” I made it clear to her that the ones committing a truly egregious act here (in fact committing a serious crime of Grave Threats) were her son and that male relative (who appeared to be about 35 years old). I then sternly pointed out to Wei (and everyone present) that in our home country, those who bravely point out problems and promote improvement are the ones who truly love the country. By contrast, what he was doing – venting his so-called “patriotic fervor” through hooliganism and violence – was actually a disgrace to genuine patriotism. As a famous saying goes, “Patriotism is the last refuge of a scoundrel.” I cautioned him not to turn patriotism into an excuse for wantonly abusing others. Besides, I noted, more than 24 hours had already passed since the initial classroom incident; there was no justification for continuing to entangle himself in this vendetta any longer.
IV. My Feelings and Reflections
Having gone through this entire ordeal, I feel physically and emotionally exhausted, filled with a multitude of mixed emotions. I am 57 years old this year, and in over three decades of teaching I have never encountered a student who so openly and malignantly violated the respect owed to a teacher. It has now been more than 24 hours since the incident began, yet instead of calming down, Wei Maochen has only intensified his actions to a degree I could never have imagined. He has shamelessly insulted me as a person, even going so far as to curse my late father and my elderly mother. He has shouted the word “animal” at me to my face. I ask myself: I have never done anything that violates the ethics of my profession or the norms of humanity – how have I come to be tarnished with such vile labels and abuse?
Looking back on the entirety of this incident, it all stemmed from my citing a vaccine case in class. For that, Wei Maochen slapped me with the label of “traitor” and then escalated to personal attacks and even attempted physical violence. This kind of warped “patriotism” on his part fills me with profound sorrow. If Wei Maochen were able to realize his mistakes and sincerely apologize to me, I, as his elder and teacher, would be willing to resolve the conflict, forgive, and reconcile with him. However, up to this moment, he has shown not the slightest remorse. Instead, he has continued to challenge the dignity of teachers and the discipline of the school with ever more extreme behavior. While I feel deeply wronged by what has happened, I still remain true to my original purpose as an educator. I believe that education should disseminate truth and goodness, guiding students to develop independent thinking and sound character. Everything I did in that classroom was for this very purpose — whether it was sharing scientific knowledge or encouraging rational thought, it was all done out of love for my students and loyalty to the cause of education.
I trust that the school leadership and my colleagues will be able to see the facts clearly and judge this matter impartially. In doing so, I hope that the rightful dignity of teachers will be upheld, and at the same time, that this student can be helped to recognize and correct his mistakes. For the well-being of our school community, it is essential that our campus remain a place free from harassment or intimidation — a safe and respectful environment for both educators and students alike. (Indeed, this is not only our ethical duty, but also an expectation under laws such as the Safe Spaces Act, RA 11313.)
